Hands-on Project Management Training
Overview
This training shares the fundamental project management tools. This is ideal for beginner project managers or experienced project managers without formal training. I learned these while managing projects of global scope in Fortune 500 companies (P&G and HP) as well as through my Project Management Professional (PMP) certification by the Project Management Institute (pmi.org). These tools have helped me build my business as well as lead volunteer projects geared toward social impact.
The PM tools you will learn
Scope Management: (1) Work Breakdown Structure
Stakeholder Management: (2) Stakeholder Analysis, (3) Communications Plan
Risk Management: (4) Risk Breakdown Structure, (5) Risk Register
Quality Management: (6) QA Checklists
Integration Management: (7) Project Charter, (8) Project Management Plan
How you will learn
For each tool above we will:
Give a short explanation of the tool
Demonstrate how to use the tool
Then you will use the tool for your project. You post your output in our Discord server.
What you need to prepare
Please think of a past, current or future project you'd like to use these tools for
Who this is for
Anyone who manages projects and who does not fit the categories below.
Who this is not for
People preparing for PMP certification: this is not a PMP prep training; the training focuses on the most practical tools based on PMP practice
PMP certified individuals: you already know this (you're welcome to join though if you want)
Classical project managment (this training) is appropriate for projects whose problems and solutions are largely known. For projects where either the problem or the solution is largely unknown, I would recommend learning one of the following instead:
